After a summer of dewy ‘clean girl’ makeup, fall 2026 beauty is taking a moodier, more expressive turn. Here is what showed up across the runways and what beauty editors are actually calling out as the trends worth trying.
Matte Takes Over From Gloss
The glossy, sun-kissed look that defined summer is stepping back. Matte and vinyl finishes are taking its place, with cool-toned pinks and deep jewel shadows replacing the bronzer-heavy looks of a few months ago.
Toasted, Warm Eyeshadow
Warm, clay-colored eyeshadow was one of the most consistent looks across the fall shows — chocolate-toned lids at Erdem, whiskey-washed shades at Rabanne, and warm brown tones cosigned as a top trend by much of the high-fashion crowd.
Deliberate, Lived-In Makeup
Rather than precision-first, hyper-controlled looks, this season’s mood is rawer — smudged liner, velvety dark lips, and hair with visible texture rather than a perfect blowout. Several shows, including Coach, sent models out with intentionally undone hair and makeup that looked genuinely lived-in rather than styled to look effortless.
Blush, Draped Higher
Blush is still having its moment, but the placement has shifted — expect to see color applied in a draped style that sweeps up toward the temples for a more sculpted effect, rather than concentrated on the apples of the cheeks.
